Woody, a pull-string cowboy doll, is the leader of a group of toys that belong to a boy named Andy Davis and come to life when humans are not in sight. With her family moving to a new home and a party is a week before his birthday, toys stage a reconnaissance mission to discover the new features Andy. Andy receives a Buzz Lightyear space ranger action figure, which threaten the position of interesting features Woody as Andy's favorite toy. Buzz does not realize that a toy when Woody tries to convince him and thinks he's a real space ranger. While other toy friends with Buzz, Woody is full of hatred for him and he does not want Buzz to become the favorite toy of Andy.
Andy prepares to go to a family outing at a space-themed restaurant Planet Pizza Buzz. Buzz Woody tries to make mistakes so that its position is maintained, but throws out a window instead, angering the other toys. With Buzz missing, Andy takes Woody to Pizza Planet with him instead. However, Buzz gets into the car and compare it with Woody when you stop at a gas station. The two toys fight and accidentally fall out of the car, pushing it out and leave behind them. Woody sees a pickup truck aimed at Pizza Planet and plans appointment with Andy there, Buzz convinced to go with him saying that the truck can carry him to his home planet. Once at Pizza Planet, Buzz makes his way into a game machine claw-shaped spaceship, thinking that the ship Woody promised. Inside, he finds a horde of aliens who revere creaky arm of the claw machine as their master. When Woody Buzz follows in the game to try to save him, the two are captured by the neighbor Andy, Sid Phillips, who likes to torture and destroy toys for fun.
At the home of Sid, the two toys stadium numerous attempts to escape before the day moves the family of Andy, the toys meet nightmare jumble of creation as well as dog Sid Sid Vicious, the Scud. Buzz sees a commercial for Buzz Lightyear action figure just like Woody himself and realizes that he was right to be a toy. Unable to face the truth, Buzz tries to prove that he is still a space ranger trying to fly out the window, but he falls and loses one of its arms. Buzz becomes too depressed to the truth, to participate in the escape plan Woody, forcing Woody to try to attract attention other toys in Andy's room waving his arm Buzz off, but the other toys still distrust what happened Buzz and leave behind him. Woody realizes that Sid's mutant toys are friendlier when they fix Buzz's arm, but is forced to hide when Sid arrives, leaving behind Buzz. Sid prepares to destroy the Buzz by strapping him to a rocket, but is delayed by a storm and sleeps for the night. Woody convinces Buzz life is worth living, even if not a space ranger for the joy that can lead to Andy, and help Buzz find his spirit. Cooperate with toys mutants of Sid, the phases of rescue Woody and Buzz Sid scares the life out by being in front of him. However, the two Miss coach Andy walks away as his new home.
Running down the road, get on a moving truck, chases them, but Scud and Buzz confronts Woody to save the dog. Woody tries to save Buzz with Andy RC car, but the other toys, who think that got rid of RC Woody, Woody throw out on the road. Spotting driving RC Woody with Buzz back alive, the other toys realize their mistake and try to help them in the truck. RC When the batteries are exhausted, the rocket lights up Woody and Buzz back RC manages to throw in the moving truck just in time before you go soaring into the air. Buzz opens its wings to cut free the rocket before it explodes, and he and Woody hovering in the air and land safely in the car. Andy looks in the box and is happy to have found Woody and Buzz.
On Christmas Eve in their new home, Buzz and Woody being another reconnaissance mission to prepare new toy arrivals, one of which is a Mrs. Potato Head, to the delight of Mr. Potato Head. Buzz Woody asks jokingly "What could Andy possibly get that is worse than you?" A question that is answered immediately; new gift of Andy, it seems, is a puppy, and that the two share a worried smile.
