The novels revolve around Harry Potter, an orphan who discovers at age eleven that he is a magician, who live in non-ordinary world of magical, or Muggle, people. His ability is innate, and these children are invited to attend a school that teaches the skills needed to succeed in the wizarding world. Harry becomes a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and it is here where most of the events of the novels take place. As Harry grows through his adolescence, he learns to overcome the problems that they face: magical, social and emotional, especially the normal teenage challenges, such as friendships and examinations, and the greatest test is prepared for the confrontation that lies ahead .
Each book describes a year in Harry's life with the main story being set in the years 1991-98. The books also contain many flashbacks that are often encountered by Harry viewing the memories of other characters in a device called a Pensieve.
JK Rowling The environment created is completely separate from reality still closely connected to it. While the fantasy land of Narnia is an alternative universe and the Lord of the Rings' Middle-earth a mythic past, the magical world of Harry Potter exists in parallel in the real world and this is how the world of Harry Potter contains elements of magic similar to things in everyday life. Many of its institutions and places are recognizable, such as London. It comprises a fragmented collection of hidden streets, overlooked and ancient pubs, lonely country houses and secluded castles that remain invisible to the population of Muggles
