MICKEY MOUSE

Mickey Mouse is a cartoon character created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks to The Walt Disney Studio.  Mickey Mouse is an anthropomorphic black and usually wearing red shorts, yellow, white gloves and big shoes. He is one of the most popular cartoon characters in the world and is the mascot of The Walt Disney Company, the largest media conglomerate in the world in terms of annual turnover.
Mickey debuted in November 1928 in the cartoon Steamboat Willie after initially appearing in a screening test earlier that year. He went on to appear in over 130 films including The Band Concert (1935), brave little tailor (1938) and Fantasia (1940). Mickey has appeared primarily in shorts, but also in some feature films. Nine of the Mickey Mouse cartoons were nominated for an Oscar for best animated short, one of which, Lend a Paw, has won the award in 1942. In 1978, Mickey became the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Since 1930, Mickey was also widely presented as a cartoon character. His eponymous newspaper strip, drawn mostly by Floyd Gottfredson, has worked for 45 years. Mickey also appeared in comic books and television series like The Mickey Mouse Club (1955-1996) and others. He also appeared in other media like video games and merchandising, and is a character in the Disney parks meetable.
Mickey usually appears alongside his girlfriend, Minnie Mouse, his pet dog Pluto, his friends Horace Halter, Donald and Goofy, Pete and his nemesis among others (see Mickey Mouse universe). Originally characterized as an anti-hero malicious, growing popularity of Mickey Mouse then rebranded as another man, usually seen as a role model always happy, but shy. In 2009, Disney announced it will begin to rebrand the character again by putting less emphasis on his pleasant, cheerful side and return the most mischievous and adventurous side of his personality, starting with the video game Epic Mickey.
